Medical Facility Design & Utilization Planning
PCI offers a unique view of Utilization Analysis. With over 100 years of medical/clinical practice and medical construction experience, we understand how demand for clinical space and patient service can be optimized in order to benefit both parties.
All growing medical practices must find a profitable balance between maximizing patient personal space and employee workspace, against the benchmarks set forth by Federal/State bodies regulating the appropriateness, medical need and efficiency of health care services procedures and facilities.
PCI’s goal is to “triangulate” the optimal level for your practice’s space/patient utilization requirements, location and facility design against your current and long-term business plans and goals.

Some Medicaid services are subject to utilization review by a Peer Review Organization (PRO). The purpose of the utilization review program is to safeguard against unnecessary and inappropriate medical care rendered to Medicaid recipients. Medical services and/or records are reviewed for medical necessity, quality of care, appropriateness of place of service and length of stay.
The purpose of the review is to confirm that your medical center is minimizing costs and to determine the most appropriate level of care and services that your practice should provide during any given period of time. A utilization review also gives you the opportunity to confirm that your medical office provides the best medical support and service while maximizing revenue.
Space Utilization Analysis
PCI examines the effective use of existing space against your requested or proposed space requirements. An inventory of your current space is just the beginning. Often the most cost effective way for our clients to meet growing demand for space is to measure the effectiveness with which current or proposed space is used.
Space utilization analysis provides analytical tools to determine space requirements and measure the viability of existing or proposed alternatives. A space utilization study uses the facility database to record and quantify existing use patterns. These analyses can lead to more efficient use patterns, potentially curtailing a larger construction project than requested to meet the expected demand for services. Alternatively, these analyses can clarify and justify the need for additional space. This data may be tested against a peer comparison or normative standards. Utilization analysis is fundamental to developing facility reuse strategies.
